(More customer reviews)This scale works well. No battery is needed with the included wall adapter (although it will run off a 9V). I believe it waits 3 minutes before automatically turning off, which is sufficient for measuring items, just don't become sidetracked in the middle of a measurement. I would keep the two pieces of cardboard which were placed underneath the scales top surface if you need it latter for long term storage of the scale. I do not know how resistant this scale is overloading the strain gauge, but it should be at least as good as most other 10 lb scales. I would never get too close to a scales upper weight limit unless a scale specifically indicates it can withstand a certain overload capacity (which I suspect to be 11 lb for most 10 lb scales).
